Hemisphere Flippy Flop

I pulled a fast one on mother nature and switched hemispheres in a mere 14 hours. She is not letting me off easy with the low temperatures and short days I am experiencing in Malibu. Sunset...5 pm!
I am really enjoying being back in California for the most part though. Swimming in the Pepperdine Pool, coffees at Cross Creek, and the biggest social event of the semester is happening right now, finals. My outside perspective on this event has finally shed light on my theory of finals being more of a social event than anything. The students come together for the final examinations of their semester, everything potentially riding on these exams, and what comes out is in form of a mixer. "I have not slept for 24 hours" one student will proclaim with a sense of honor; just as another perks up, "I've been up for 3 day's!" The library is full of these students buzzing on coffee, scoring "study enhancing drugs", and occasionally checking out the study guide for that test in 6 hours. Only in American colleges could an atmosphere like this be created around such a seemingly serious event. Cheers to George Pepperdine.

Simon*Alex

Nodding Dog Design

Alex took me into the Nodding Dog Design Office yesterday and I had the opportunity throw some ideas around for some of the campaigns the company is working on. Adrian, the owner, is a super cool guy and had a lot of constructive criticism to some of the work I did which only helps. Adrian's laid back style runs through the veins of his company and creates a really enjoyable atmosphere to work in. The small design firm runs out of a Newcastle warehouse and creates amazing work. I just dabbled the surface on my first day yesterday and really look forward to learning a lot from Alex and Adrian.

DEADWOOD

"If you stay inside and watch Deadwood all day I will be very angry with you"
-Simon Kachel
Friday Morning: 7:25 am.

After a nice training session, a bowl of hot irish oats, and a glass of OJ this morning I was ready to conquer...the couch. With 2&1/2 seasons left of Deadwood, I was mentally and pysically prepared to do nothing all day that required any mental or physical output of engery. That was until my roommate had to throw down the "I will be angry at you card."
In shear fear, I motivated! Threw the boardies on, grabbed the phish, and started the walk from high street to Bar Beach. I was now mentally preparing for small, mushy waves that was going to leave me wanting good surf. I have to stop here and thank Simon. (Your the bomb) This mornings session at Bar Beach had some of the best waves I have scored since in Australia. It was shoulder-high, clean, and uncrowded!

So now it is 10:20 am...shit(sorry muffin), and I havnt had a coffee yet.
